Limitations 

Lacks specificity in diagnosis of acute MI, since increased myoglobin levels occure after intramuscular injections. Increased serum myoglobin has been reported after high voltage electrical accident. As an index of myocardial infarct, myoglobin returns rapidly to baseline levels.
