Limitations 

The correlation between blood ammonia levels and hepatic coma is poor. Ammonia determinations are not reliable predictors of impending hepatic coma.

Rejection Criteria 

Hemolysis, specimen not received frozen,anticoagulants other than EDTA, lipemia, whole blood

Additional Instructions 

Plasma must be separated from red blood cells immediately after draw. Whole blood samples will be rejected.
