Real time RT-PCR and/or TMA (Transcription Mediated Amplification)

Primex utilizes the following tests/manufacturers for SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) testing:

  • Abbott RealTime SARS-CoV-2 Assay by Abbott Molecular
  • VIASURE SARS-CoV-2 Real Time PCR Assay by CerTest
  • Aptima SARS-CoV-2 Assay by Hologic, Inc.
  • TaqPath COVID-19 Combo Kit by Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc.

Limitations 
Rejection Criteria 

Specimens received out of stability, incorrect collection container or source

Additional Instructions 

Aptima swabs may be used for nasal or oropharyngeal sources ONLY.

This test is not available STAT.

Out of consideration for other patients and our employees, we respectfully ask that individuals who meet the criteria for risk of having COVID-19 do not enter Primex Patient Service Centers. Requests for COVID-19 testing must be ordered by a physician or other authorized healthcare provider.
